Best AB Game Thus Far

Still awaiting some of the pieces for my army to arrive, I took a break from scratch building weapons to play a little World of Warcraft. Here is the screen shot from the last AB match I was in. I think this is the best I've done in AB so far.

Rogue Inspired Assassin

Insperation pics for my rogue. I think this set goes best with the theme of the rest of the army with the hood and face mask.
So the only decission left for this model is the weaponry. I need to go over the wargear in the codex to see if I should go with sword and dagger or twin glaives of Azeroth.

The sword would probably be:

Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker

Dagger would probably be:

Boundless Agony

With the Executioneer enchant effect and poison drips.

Or I could go with the twin glaives:

Warglaive of Azzinoth

With the Agility enchant on them with poison drips as well.

I like the Glaives better, but I need to look at the rules to best model the actual weapons to be used. I think the assassins only have one power weapon. If so, then sword and dagger. If they have two, then I'll go glaives.

Thanks Shane for the info leading to this point.

The Weapon Enchanting Effects Plan

If you guys are wondering how I am planning to do the enchant effects, here is the plan:

1) Make the weapon using bits, plastic card & green stuff.
2) Make a mold of the weapon.
3) Cast the weapon in two part resin.
4) Take the cast and mold the enchant effect onto the weapon using green stuff.
5) Make a mold of the enchant effect.
6) Cast a second weapon using the weapon mold.
7) Paint the weapon as desired.
8) Take the painted weapon and place it into the enchant effect mold (Only the part of the weapon that features the enchant will be in the mold)
9) Fill the enchant mold with clear epoxy.
10) Remove the weapon and ink wash the cured clear epoxy to match the desired enchant.

For poison and Savagery effects, I will use a got glue gun to get the driping effect on a painted weapon and ink wash with the desired color.

It all looks good on paper, can't wait to see if it will really work!

Updates on Material Arrival and New Ideas

So far I have received my tools from Gale Force 9 and my Casting kit which arrived last night. Still waiting on plastic card and bits before I can start.

I am going to build a rogue! Thinking of using the all back gear set with the white skull on the face mask with a epic sword and dagger combo. The grey knights have cult assassins which play just like a rogue in wow! Poison tips on the blades, can disengage from close combat, infiltrate, etc.

I have decided to make a my special weapon carriers in terminator armor. A few adjustments to their size and accessories on their back and they will be identifiable. They will all be male. The Grey Knight troops will be both male and female. I will probably give the females the psycannons so they stand out.

Bases and squad markings. Combining a idea from Shane and Mike, I will be basing each unit to look like they are walking on a stone tile walkway. I will be painting the paladin aura animation on the tile around my model's feet to signify which unit they belong too. For example, I will use the Retribution Aura animation on the bases for my grey knight troops and combine roman numerals into the design so I wil have Retribution Squad I and Retribution Squad II. Sanctity aura wil be used for my HQ, etc. I will also me naming my tanks Hammer of Wrath and Avenger's Shield.

Most of these ideas are for the 2k pt list, but the design will be incorporated within my 500 pt list as well.

Warhammer 40k Combat Patrol Rules

So I finally found the rules for the Combat Patrol mini game in the 4th edition rule book. This mission is not in the 5th edition rule book so I am typing up the rules here for future reference.

W40K 4th ed. pg#182

Combat Patrol Requirements:
- 400pts (I suggest we increase this to 500pts since a typical army is 1,500pts, building 400pts is less than 1/3rd of a full army)
- At least one troop choice
- You can choose to take one HQ choice
- You can spend the rest of your points on anything in the codex
- No models with more than two wounds
- No character models
- No 2+ saves
- No vehicles with a total armor value greater than 33 (add the front, one side & the back armor values. This total can not be greater than 33)
- No ordinance weapons
- Use Combat Patrol Mission
- Ideally played on a 4’x4’ table

Combat Patrol Mission:
Set-up-
1.) Players roll a D6. The player who rolls the highest chooses his deployment zone (12” from table edge) and deploys first. Roll for first turn. The player who rolls the highest chooses who goes first.

Scenario Special Rules-
- Infiltrate, Victory Points

Mission Objective-
- Elimination, Higher Victory Points wins

Game Length-
- Six Turns
